Welcome to Midwest Mama’s Memoirs! Your one-stop blog for everything messy, magical, and Midwest. I’m so glad you’re here! As a stay-at-home mom of two (soon to be three!) and a proud pet mom to 12 animals—including 3 dogs, 2 rabbits, 6 chickens, and a kitten—life is always buzzing. Keeping our busy home organized is no easy task, but it’s become a challenge I’ve learned to love.
Motherhood is a wild and wonderful journey, but building a home has been just as rewarding. During this phase of life, I’ve truly embraced homemaking as my calling. From decluttering and deep cleaning to mastering meal planning and finding systems that work for our family, creating a functional, peaceful home has become a top priority. One of our latest ventures has been getting chickens! It’s been both an adventure and a learning experience, but having fresh eggs and teaching the kids how to care for them has been worth every moment.
We’re living in a new home in a suburban neighborhood, and there’s no shortage of DIY projects to tackle. Currently, we’re working on finishing the basement, but my passion for creating an inviting home doesn’t stop there. I’ve been improving my sewing skills, working on everything from curtains to home decor projects that add personal touches to our space. It’s incredibly satisfying to craft items that make our home feel even more like us.
Beyond homemaking, I’ve been working on expanding my skills professionally. I’m in the early stages of starting a curriculum development business, drawing on my background in education to create resources for parents and educators. Balancing family life while chasing entrepreneurial dreams has been an exciting challenge, and I can’t wait to see where it leads.
Of course, like many families, we’re also focused on paying off debt and becoming more financially stable. This goal has pushed me to be more mindful about our spending and look for creative ways to save money. Gardening, for instance, has not only provided fresh produce for our table but has also helped us cut grocery costs. My pollinator garden is in full bloom, and I’m hoping it’s the first step toward our dream of living a more self-sustaining, natural lifestyle. Someday, we plan to have our own hobby farm to support our family and live even more in tune with nature.
With baby number three arriving this spring, our family is in for some big changes. From prepping the nursery to reworking our daily routines, it’s been all about staying organized and keeping the chaos manageable. Whether I’m sharing tips on decluttering, homeschooling, or homemaking, my goal is to create a space where we can thrive as a family.
So, grab a cup of coffee and come along for the ride! This blog is all about finding joy in the everyday moments, learning through the mess, and keeping life balanced—at least most of the time! Together, we’ll tackle everything from homemaking hacks to motherhood milestones and everything in between.
Thanks for being here! Don’t forget to keep the coffee strong, the laughter loud, and the mom life magical. 💋🔥 #StaySassy #MomLifeMagic
